Ballin’ with Timamo

15 o’clock. The school uniform is hanging up to dry, the vegetables are chopped, and the dishes are washed, Timamo’s chores for the afternoon have been completed.

“Timamo! Timamo! Vamos jogar bola!” Adriano, Timamo’s best friend, has just finished scraping last night’s rice from his last pot.

“Espera um pouco,  quase termino de fazer a bola”

This scene has been on a daily repeat since I have arrived here in Balama.

Timamo, my 15 year old neighbor rushes home, completes his chores as quickly as possible, then begins constructing his soccer ball. Every kid has their theory/process on making the best ball possible. This is Timamo’s.

*While traveling during our spring break, my house got broken into. My family was kind enough to front me money to replace some of the missing items. This is my first blog after receiving some of the stuff that was stolen… It feels so good to be back!
