Chitolo

A couple of weeks ago I spent the weekend in Chitolo, a small village in northern Mozambique. I stayed the night in the home of the friendly Assane, his wife Luqui, and their children; I was received with great hospitality. Assane is a community leader for Food for the Hungry (fh.org) in Chitolo, a community that FH has been working with for several years. FH works with with community members teaching them new agriculture techniques, good health practices, and the importance of clean water.

I fully agree  with FH, “Children are a communities future”.

The growth of our children will lead the the growth of our communities. Whether it is:
a child observing his/her parents carting water from the well
a child learning how to drum, sing, and dance to a beat passed down through the generations or
a child joyously cooking with his/her parents

A healthy community will assure that the traditions from yesterday’s generations will be passed down to tomorrow’s generation.

  1. Amazing photos, must of been an incredible experience, I am looking forward to doing somthing very similar soon.

  2. Love these images! You’ve captured the magic of the end of the rice season! And great angles and composition 🙂

  3. Love all of these!! Keep the posts coming 🙂 Praying for you!

  4. Thanks for the love everyone!

  5. Lovely images, doubtless. I wonder if this is the same Chitolo where i’ve been during colonial war, from may70 to jun71. My militar company was probabl the last one to occupy that portion or territory.

    • Carl,
This Chitolo pictured here is in Northern Mozambique in the province of Cabo Delgado near Mocimboa da Praia. If it’s the same town I hope I was able to take you back in time!
