Feeling good

A week of teaching over 400 8th grade students physics can be draining at times. Luckily I have ways to escape this craziness.

As I was riding my bike on trails used for people to go into their farms, I just could not stop smiling. I simply could not believe my eyes and ears.

The sight of… the machambas (farms) now full of their crops, the mountains off in the distance, mothers fathers and children traveling together as a family for miles to get back home before dark, the thousands of birds dispersing as I ride through, the signaling of the dark large clouds that a storm is approaching.

The sounds of… the woman using the pilão in the distance, the thunder within the clouds, the warnings of the shuffling grass of someone about to step onto the trail.

I was in complete disbelief and all I could think was that I live in one of the most beautiful places.

Although I have been loving my bike, my most prized position is the precious Vania, my little three-year-old neighbor.

As I walk home after classes as soon as she catches the first glance of the tall white figure (me) she bolts towards me yelling “Tio! Tio!” with her arms wide open. After she gives me the biggest hug, she then sticks her hands out, waiting for me to infest her hands with the chalk residue left on mine from teaching.

Today is one of those days where I cannot believe how blessed I am to be in such a beautiful place with beautiful people.

Life is great 😀

I know this is more of a personal post but since this is ‘photoblog’ I’ll leave you with a few pics of my gorgeous niece, Vania.
